XX. Roma (Gypsy) Folclore Camp in Kommandó

About the camp

The camp offers a variety of programs and dance workshops for a better understanding of the gypsy culture.

 

Dance workshops in two groups between 10:00-12:30 and 17:00-19:00

• Gypsy dances from Őrkő: Tőkés Zsolt and Tőkés Edit

• Gypsy dances from Szászcsávás: Melles Endre and Ádám Júlia

Folk songs teaching from 12:30 to 13:00 with Erőss Réka.

 

In the afternoons between 3 and 5 pm the campers can participate on lectures about gypsy culture and watch documentaries, films. He have táncház ("folk dance house") every night. Wednesday participants can make a trip to the Lakóca Mountain (1.777 m).

 

Participation fee

155 EUR for those coming from Western states

105 EUR for those coming from Hungary

280 RON for those coming from Romania

 

The participation fee includes three meals per day and the instruction fee. The participation fee does not include the accomodation and transport. The accomodation will be arranged on mattresses in the schoolrooms or in private tent. Both versions will cost 10 RON/day.
The accomodation is also possible in motel rooms with 2-3 beds, which will cost 40 RON/person/day.
The number of the places is limited, their reservation will be made according to the order of applications. In order to confirm your application please pay an advance of the participation fee to the following accounts:

The camp begins in the afternoon of the 22th of July with a visit to the Gypsy community from Őrkő, attached to Sepsiszentgyörgy. The meeting will be in the central park from Sepsiszentgyörgy at the Bod Péter County Library at 4 p.m. After the visit participants will be driven with a bus to Kommandó – please let us know if you need transport at registration. Those not participating at this visit can take the bus at 5 p.m. from the railway station. The participation does not include the transport fee from Sepsiszentgyörgy to Kommandó.
